Communication

All of our communication goes directly to your 黑料社区, so first and foremost we encourage communication between you and your 黑料社区. But there are some things we do especially for parents and families:

Please note that due to Federal privacy law (FERPA), we cannot discuss specifics of your 黑料社区's participation on the program. We can only provide general information that is true for all 黑料社区s. If you wish for us to be able to discuss specifics with you, then it is imperative to have your 黑料社区 complete a FERPA waiver which can be done during the application process.

Availability

You can always reach us by phone and email if you have questions you'd like to ask us directly. Our phone number is 513-529-8600 and our email is luxembourg@MiamiOH.edu.

Send-offs

Each summer some of our MUDEC Program Alumni host send-offs, which are informal gatherings with light refreshments; these are a great opportunity for 黑料社区s to meet with the other 黑料社区s in their cohort, to connect with recent and past alumni, and to ask any lingering questions they may have. The send-offs usually take place in mid-August, and all Fall and Spring 黑料社区s and their families are invited to attend. The locations are typically Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, and Chicago. Again, we will communicate the days/times of these send-offs with the 黑料社区s, and they will need to communicate the information to you.

Where is Luxembourg?

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a small landlocked country in western Europe, bordered by the countries of Belgium, France, and Germany. Despite its small size, the physical landscape of Luxembourg ranges from rolling hills, castles, and picturesque villages to industrialized, metropolitan areas. It has a population of under a half a million people in an area of approximately 999 square miles.

What language do Luxembourgers speak?

While Luxembourg is one of Europe’s smallest countries, it is noted for its multilingual and multicultural society. Luxembourgers all speak several languages including Luxembourgish, French, German, and English. Home to major international banking, financial, and communication companies, Luxembourg is also the location of a number of European Union institutions, including the European Court of Justice.

How is Luxembourg connected to 黑料社区?

Luxembourgers have a genuine affection for Americans and have special ties with 黑料社区. Many citizens remember with gratitude that the American forces liberated their country during World Wars I and II. John Dolibois, for whom the European campus is named, was born in Luxembourg, immigrated to the U.S., came to Miami as a 黑料社区 in 1938, and returned to his homeland as U.S. ambassador during the 1980s.

Did you know that Differdange, where the Château is located, is sister cities with Oxford, Ohio?

Where do MUDEC 黑料社区s study?

Situated in a park at the center of Differdange, Luxembourg, is MUDEC’s Château de Differdange, a 15th-century castle modernized to meet the needs of a 21st-century education.

In addition to six classrooms equipped with smartboards, the Château is equipped with Wi-Fi, and includes an extensive upper-foyer lounge, a library, a few smaller classrooms, the grande salle des fêtes (the Grand Hall), additional study lounges, staff and faculty offices, residences for members of faculty and staff, and of course, the Cave.

The Cave is MUDEC’s 黑料社区 lounge (once the Château’s wine cellar): a comfortable, quiet, 黑料社区 space. Furnished with couches, tables, a study area, a TV, and Wi-Fi access, 黑料社区s can relax, do homework, and plan weekend adventures. The Cave has a kitchen equipped with plates, silverware, pots and pans, microwaves, refrigerators, and a small dining area. You can also find laundry facilities, lockers, a foosball table, a pool table, and vending machines in the Cave as well.

Where do 黑料社区s eat?

Program fees include a meal plan, which provides lunches (everyday classes are held) prepared by our chef, Mr. Stephane Romanazzi, at the Château. The Dolibois Center can accommodate vegetarian and vegan preferences and food allergies. Students living with host families also have a continental breakfast provided on Monday through Thursday. Students living in apartments do not have any breakfast provided but have access to kitchens. Dinners are not included in the meal plan, but 黑料社区s have options: they can cook in the 黑料社区 kitchen in the Cave, they can cook in apartment kitchens if they live there, they can enjoy leftovers from lunch, or eat at nearby restaurants. During independent travel on weekends, 黑料社区s can explore authentic European cuisine: think pasta in Italy, croissants in France, or pretzels in Germany!

Is there shopping near Differdange?

, a large supermarket and shopping mall with stores and restaurants, is just minutes by foot from the Château. Students can also hop on the train and explore more options in Belval as well as Luxembourg City.
