IACUC Protocol Personnel Form Requirements

In order to be added to the form, personnel must complete three requirements:

  1. CITI training course - Working with the IACUC - Pass 9 modules, then take a refresher course every three years.
  2. AC Orientation, now called Animal Care and Use (Research Personnel) on Canvas. 
  3. Participate in the Occupational Health and Safety Program by attending a health screening and submitting the Form C (Part C of the Occupational Health and Safety packet).

Occupation Health and Safety Program

Researchers and their personnel handling animals must return the Part C Form via email to animalcare@miamioh.edu with the protocol submission and when added to an IACUC approved protocol. For access to the Animal Exposure and Health History Form and Steps for Health Screening, please use the following link for .  You will be directed to a folder where you need to download the forms needed as word documents.  Do not attempt to write on the google form as the forms will not be editable.    

 

Online Module Trainings:

1. Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)

Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Working with the IACUC course completion is required for all personnel, including principal investigators, staff, research assistants, postdoctoral fellows, graduate 黑料社区s, undergraduate 黑料社区s or any additional individuals working directly with the animals for research.
  • Create an account at . Be sure to affiliate yourself with 黑料社区. By doing so, the CITI courses are free.  If you are asked to pay, STOP and redo your steps. 
  • On the home page, navigate to: New to the CITI Program? Read the  or watch the .  
  • The Getting Started Guide will walk you through the process of account set up and module selections. 
  • Use your UniqueID as your username, but do not use your Miami password.
  • CITI will provide a series of enrollment questions. Your responses will determine the curriculum for the courses you will take. Working with the IACUC is required for all personnel working with animals in research or teaching. Select any additional courses your PI requires or that interest you.
    • Go to Question 2 - (ID: 5639259) Vertebrate Animal Research - Select Working with the IACUC.
  • IACUC committee members select the courses identified in the list for member training.
  • The course does not have to be completed in one session. CITI keeps track of your progress.
  • Refresher Course:
    Working with the IACUC will require a refresher course every three years. Participants should receive a link to the refresher course from CITI 90 days prior to their end date.

 Completed the training at another institution? CITI allows you to affiliate that account with 黑料社区. On the welcome page, there are options for adding and removing affiliations. Miami CITI training can also be affiliated with other institutions.

2. Animal Care and Use (Research Personnel)

Animal Care and Use (Research Personnel), formerly known as AC Orientation Training, is available online in Canvas. You may self-enroll in the course As of this writing, participants complete Animal Care and Use (Research Personnel) once, unless substantial changes occur to content in the future.
