Students completing the combined kinesiology + athletic training program are prepared to become credentialed healthcare professionals who provide injury prevention services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.

Academic Preparation

As undergraduates, ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs enroll in the . The Kinesiology major provides an ideal foundation for the . The undergraduate program also includes the pre-requisite coursework necessary for admission into the MAT program. As structured, ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs complete the majority of the BS in Kinesiology during the first three years at Miami.

During the fourth year, ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs transition into the MAT curriculum. Here, coursework encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions. in addition, ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs are assigned to a clinical experience rotation each semester during years four and five. After five years, ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs earn both the BS in Kinesiology and the Master of Athletic Training degrees. The MAT degree grants ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs the eligibility to sit for the .

Declaration of Interest

Students may declare their interest in enrolling in a combined program anytime during their academic career at Miami, from the time they are admitted for an undergraduate degree. We encourage ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs to formally declare during their first semester at Miami in order to optimize academic advising.

Full Admission

Upon earning junior or senior ranking and a 3.00 cumulative GPA, ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs may apply to a combined program by completing the Graduate School application and submitting required materials.

Student Classification and Graduation

Students in a combined program will remain undergraduates and pay their undergraduate tuition rate until they apply for graduation or submit a request to the Graduate School to have their classification changed from undergraduate to graduate.

Students must have completed a minimum of 124 hours to be classified as a graduate ºÚÁÏÉçÇø (note: this change in classification will affect tuition price and eligibility for financial aid). Students may receive their bachelor's degree prior to completing their master's degree. Upon receiving the bachelor's, ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs will automatically be classified as graduate ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs.

Students receiving the bachelor's degree prior to completing the master's degree can count up to nine hours of graduate course work toward their bachelor's degree with permission of the appropriate advisor(s) and dean(s) or their designee(s). Those hours can also count toward the completion of their master's degree.
