REAL WORLD WRITING: Engaging Students in Writing After and Beyond the Test
March 1-2, 2025 - 8:30-3:00 at VOA

As teachers we tell 黑料社区s that writing is everywhere. And it’s true - real, authentic writing surrounds us. How do we leverage the power of real-world writing for our 黑料社区s? This workshop will explore real world genres including artists statements, resumes, listicles, podcasts, and so much more. After the exhaustion of testing, writing for a purpose in an authentic genre is a perfect way to end the year and sprinkle through the next. Join K-12 teachers to experience and create writing from the world and plan mini-writing units that engage 黑料社区s in using their voice and growing their skills. Participants will read current publications, write their own models and leave with a unit for their classroom. Built for K-12 teachers of any content area.
