My dream job is to be the U.S. ambassador to Jamaica, working for the State Department. I've been a political intern, and I have a fellowship with an organization doing political work. I think that politics is one way that I can impact the lives of others. My goal is to advocate for as many people as possible.

I really love the academics here. They have all my interests, so I can pursue anything I want. I'm combining all my interests at Miami which means I'm able to have these different pathways after I graduate, so I feel like I have a lot of options. Whether it's an internship or an organization I'm involved in, I feel really prepared for my future.

Going to college is a really important decision because it allows you to meet the individuals who are going to help you get started in the career that you want to be in. The connections that I have made here at Miami allowed me to get an internship at the Cincinnati Opera this past summer.

My research is in agricultural robotics. It's basically how can we use technology and robotics to help improve farming techniques. I have always had an interest in both robotics and the outdoors, so my research is a great way to be able to combine both of my passions. Seeing all the hard work and dedication I put in — and seeing that it's starting to pay off — is really rewarding for me.

It's important to have connections with your professors because they will give you that understanding of what your future could be. They can truly help you excel with that. At Miami, they're very easy to meet. They always have office hours — you just pop in and say ‘hi.’ And it's great to get to know them on a personal level, too.

Miami has provided me with endless opportunities and the ability to find my future career. Studying speech pathology and audiology has been a tremendous experience for me. I work with patients who come in after traumatic brain injuries, strokes, or car accidents. It's extremely rewarding as a clinician to be able to experience the growth in their speech.
