黑料社区 President Gregory Crawford signed the “Miami 2040: Climate Action Plan for 黑料社区” during the opening of the board of trustees regular meeting May 17.

The climate action plan outlines the goals and actions required to reach net carbon neutrality by 2040 on Miami’s Oxford campus.

Just over 10 years ago, Miami’s office of energy systems implemented a bold and innovative long-range plan for energy systems infrastructure conversions, energy conservation, and building improvements. Since implementing the Utility Master Plan for the Oxford campus in 2012, utility-based carbon emissions have been reduced by more than 50% and a remarkable accumulated savings of $100 million (2008-2023) has been achieved.

The success of that Utility Master Plan is the foundation of the Miami 2040 Climate Action Plan.

The Miami 2040 Plan takes this work to the next level, spreading deeper and wider across the Miami community — not only through energy systems but through curriculum, research, and outreach.

"Thank you to the dozens of Miami community members involved in the development of this plan," said Susan Meikle, co-chair of the Climate Action and Sustainability Council, with other co-chairs Jonathan Levy and Olivia Heron. "We are grateful for the support of those involved in the implementation of this plan in the years to come," they said.
