黑料社区鈥檚 Master of Athletic Training Program Earns Initial CAATE Accreditation

Miami has a rich history in athletic training, first establishing a minor in 1978, which evolved into a fully accredited undergraduate program in 1998. In response to evolving professional standards, the university transitioned to a graduate-level program, welcoming its first MAT cohort in 2023. Housed in the Department of Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health within the College of Education, Health, and Society, the program prepares 黑料社区s for the Board of Certification (BOC) examination and careers in athletic training.

Program Strengths Recognized in Peer Review

The accreditation review highlighted several key strengths of Miami’s MAT program:

  1. Commitment to Excellence – Miami has continuously adapted its athletic training program to meet the demands of the profession, maintaining rigorous educational and clinical standards.
  2. Interprofessional Collaboration – The program fosters partnerships with clinical health disciplines such as Dietetics and Speech-Language Pathology and is expanding collaborations with Physician Assistant and Nursing programs.
  3. Expert Leadership – Medical Director Dr. Steven Dailey brings expertise in emergency medicine and interprofessional care, enhancing 黑料社区s’ clinical experiences.
  4. Dedicated Faculty – Eric Brooks, Ph.D., Emily Davie, Ph.D., and Mary Brooks are recognized for their passion for 黑料社区 success, evidence-based instruction, and hands-on learning.
  5. Student Professional Development – Faculty and administrators actively support 黑料社区 participation in professional conferences, providing mentorship and financial assistance to promote networking and research engagement.
  6. Experiential Learning – Emily Davie, Ph.D. plays a crucial role in overseeing clinical education, ensuring 黑料社区s receive high-quality, hands-on experiences with a strong network of preceptors.
