Why Miami?
Miami held all of the opportunities and exciting activities that I sought out from my future school, as well as having a convenient location close to home and a beautiful campus.
How did you choose your major?
I decided on majoring in French through the 6 years of French studies I had taken before Miami, the strong connections I had with my prior French teachers and the language, and a spring break trip to France where I was able to experience France's beautiful culture and customs firsthand.
Key Moment at Miami
I had the privilege of having Dr. Elisabeth Hodges for two courses in my first semester at Miami, and through those she was able to deliver such intelligence and true understanding for what a person who is passionate about their craft looks like. She has truly inspired me to teach French with the same overwhelming admiration of the language.
Other Notable Experience
As I have only been able to experience one semester at Miami so far, unfortunately I have not been able to experience all there is in store for me, such as a semester abroad or in-field experiences. However, attending courses alone and meeting so many new people through different organizations has been an experience unlike any other that I have ever come across. It is truly incredible how many people you can learn and build from, and I have most definitely learned the importance of reaching out to unfamiliar faces.
Advice to Prospective Students
I would tell them that no matter how big the Miami campus can feel, there are so many opportunities to make this university a place that is personal to you, and every other ºÚÁÏÉçÇø attending. Big or small, there are countless ways to find your people, and find what makes you overflow with joy, curiosity, and dedication.
What are your career goals?
I am excited to enter into an educational position after graduating from Miami, teaching French. Regardless of what school I end up at or what grade I teach, I am certain that I want to continue the opportunities for future ºÚÁÏÉçÇøs to learn the French language, and hopefully appreciate France and its culture as much as I do.
